I hope that in the next year I will actually have some time to get some more artwork done, but with writing, interviewing and editing for Carmine, plus all of the other projects I have going on I’m not sure when that will happen.

If the Big Word Project is just a clever way for two incredibly smart dudes to make a ton of money, then I wouldn’t be the first to say it’s working.
It reminds me of the genius behind the Millior Dollar Homepage, except that with so many words in the english language, these guys stand to make a whole lot more money.

From their site:

The Big Word Project has been set up by Paddy Donnelly and Lee Munroe, two Masters students from Northern Ireland, who are exploring what different words mean to different people. The project allows you to purchase a word from our list to represent your site. Your site will then represent this word in our list and when people click on it, they will be taken to your site. The project is aimed at changing definitions and creating a new tapestry of words, meaning altogether different things.

I just bought Carmine for CarmineMag.com!

Hello everyone!

So, I haven’t written about this on here yet, but I’m going to right now. I have spent the last two months or so changing my life around completely in preparation for making Addmyartjournal into an online magazine/blog (and future print magazine). It’s going to be called Carmine Magazine (named after the ink used to make some red dyes and paints).
It’s been a blast and I am really, really looking forward to getting this whole thing off the ground.

I’ll explain the site more later, when it’s actually finished being built and I’ve rewritten all of the entries and interviews on the site. (That’s going to take forever! I hope not…)
I can tell you there will be more interviews, tips, tricks, tutorials, pictures, reviews of products, reviews of books, art shows, videos, business tips and a bunch of other things on the site in the future.

In the mean time Check out the CafePress store for the magazine. Buy a shirt, help us get the site off the ground quicker!

I’ve also been doing a lot of school work (BOR-ing! not really).
Other than that I’ve dyed my hair pink. New favorite hair color EVER. I absolutely love it.

I promise I will start working on some art again soon.

Addmyartjournal Interviews: I interview other artists, at least once a week, at the livejournal community addmyartjournal. I love doing it, it’s a fantastic opportunity, but it can be rather hard to track down so many artists, ask them for interviews, get the interviews and find pieces of their art to post. I have a long, fantastic, list of people for the next few weeks. I’m quite excited about them.

Dye My Hair Pink: I ordered the dye on Friday afternoon, it’s almost here and I can’t wait. I am very much looking forward to finally having pink hair.

Homework: Get together with my scene partner, memorize my lines/plan my costume, write Sociology paper, do more research for Sociology project, do my Sociology test and read the next chapter. I have a lot to do this week, luckily it’s spring break!

Work on Secret Project: My husband and I are working on some secret projects. I’m really excited and we need to get these things rolling.

File Taxes: Seriously.

Workout: I’ve been slacking in the last week. Not good.

I was always a bit of a tomboy as a child and never really got the opportunity to do the whole pigtails or ribbon in my hair thing. Now that I’m an adult I am going to take care of that!

Drink More Water! Seriously, I need to do this. I have three bottles of Sobe left, but the rest of what I drink this week needs to be water. It will make me feel better, even if it does taste bland when you’re getting used to drinking it again.

Order Hair Dye: That’s right I am dyeing my hair, again, and this time I really am going to make it Atomic Pink (by Special Effects). I am really excited. I will post the results.

Paint, paint, draw, paint: Yes, now that the art show is over I need to keep myself busy by making new artwork. I have a few friends I need to make drawings for and I have post it notes with paintings ideas covering my inspiration wall. It’s getting out of hand.

Buy More Healthy Food:This weekend was the first time, in the three years that we have lived together, that we ever bought 100% healthy food while we were shopping. There wasn’t a single bit of candy, cookies, soda or anything of the sort. It’s fantastic and I want to repeat that this weekend.

Work on my homework: That one sounds pretty easy, but I really do need to schedule more time to do my homework, otherwise I feel rushed to do it and I keep putting it off.

Hello everyone!
So, I didn’t end up making it down to Southern California last night for the art show. I was really upset about that for a while, but it ended up being the best course of action with our financial and emotional situations right now.

We did, however, get a lot of really good food shopping done. I am attempting to take some inspiration from Gala Darling and incorporate more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and water into my life. Which is making me really happy. Though I must admit, when we ventured into the local health food store to buy more L-Theanine supplements to help level out our moods, the staff at the health food store was not very appreciative of my leather jacket. I apologize greatly, but I do love my leather jacket.
After the health food store we ventured over to Trader Joe’s a store that many of us know and love. We found all kinds of really amazing looking, healthy food there. I am quite excited to start making smoothies again (that was one of my first jobs, making smoothies in a place named after an African dance).

In other art news I will be posting pictures (and perhaps some video) from the Art Show as it is available to me. Also, I am working on a very bright, cheeky painting right now. I love the idea.

Have a fantastic day.

The interviews have been a blast to do and the response has been quite positive.
I just posted an interview with myself there today along with pictures of my work. You can check that out here.

This weekend is the Greasers, Ghouls & Gals show at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, California. My husband and I will be making the 6+ hour drive down there for the show early Saturday morning. If you would like more information on the show check out Motor City Comic’s Official Blog.

I just added two new items to the Etsy Store. The first is an original watercolor painting Bug Lady Revisited, the other is a tote bag that I’ve spent the last few years trying to convince myself to part with The Little Black Sheep. You can see pictures of these pieces behind the cut.

Several weeks ago I came to the realization that if I was going to make paintings for an art show, drive seven hours across the state to attend said art show and expect any sort of promotion to come from this art show, I should have some form of business cards. I toyed with the idea of getting business cards made by one of the random sites online where you only have to pay shipping (and have someone else’s domain on the back of your card). I thought about designing my own cards and having them made up by a close friend of mine. I quickly realized that I don’t know anything about designing business cards and have no idea what sort of look I wanted them to have. Then I remembered MOO cards a site where you can upload your own pictures (up to 100) or your own custom done graphics and have them print out unique business cards for you.
A few days later I had all of my work scanned and cropped, I began sorting through it all to decide which pieces I wanted to have on my business cards. I uploaded about ten images to MOO’s site and began to narrow down my choices by seeing which pieces worked the best for the shape of the cards. After cropping, choosing one of their pre-made logos for the back and adding all of my contact information I sent the $20.00 to them and began waiting for them to arrive.
They took about ten days to travel from London to Northern California, which was on the outside edge of their estimated time (a friend of mine waited several weeks for hers to arrive). They came in a padded, recycled plastic envelope. The cards come in their own white, hard plastic box (also made from recycled materials, they try very hard to use only recycled materials).
The cards are smaller than I thought they would be, I knew going in to this that they would be smaller and would be shaped differently from normal business cards. I must say that they quality is fabulous, as was the printing and lettering. For such a tiny card, you can still read the lettering on the back (at least I can). Also in the envelope was a sample version of their custom sticker books. I am so looking forward to slapping these tiny little stickers on things. I will definitely be buying some custom stickers in the future.
Overall, I am very happy and looking forward to passing these suckers out like there is no tomorrow. I can’t wait to toss these in with artwork I sell.
